Since the arrival of the final Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald trailer with its major spoiler confirming a fan theory, members of the wizarding world fan base have been a little distraught. The uproar over Claudia Kim’s character has been gaining momentum over the last 24 hours, and it has apparently grown big enough to catch the eye of the character’s creator. After being called out in a very frank tweet from a fan, J.K. Rowling has thrown her hat in the ring.
The Naga are snake-like mythical creatures of Indonesian mythology, hence the name ‘Nagini.’ They are sometimes depicted as winged, sometimes as half-human, half-snake. Indonesia comprises a few hundred ethnic groups, including Javanese, Chinese and Betawi. Have a lovely day

The fan – who was brave enough to express her frustration with “Listen, Joanne…” – asked for Jo to be more considerate with representation in her films and not to make it an “afterthought.” Jo addressed Kim’s casting for the character, saying that the Indonesian mythology behind nagas could be attributed to a few hundred Asian ethnic groups.
