SPOILERS AHEAD: PROCEED WITH CAUTION

Since the arrival of the final Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald trailer with its major spoiler confirming a fan theory, members of the wizarding world fan base have been a little distraught. One of our MuggleNet staff members elaborated on why fans were concerned by this reveal about a certain Fantastic Beasts character – please read his editorial for more information.

The uproar over Claudia Kim’s character has been gaining momentum over the last 24 hours, and it has apparently grown big enough to catch the eye of the character’s creator. After being called out in a very frank tweet from a fan, J.K. Rowling has thrown her hat in the ring.

The fan – who was brave enough to express her frustration with “Listen, Joanne…” – asked for Jo to be more considerate with representation in her films and not to make it an “afterthought.” Jo addressed Kim’s casting for the character, saying that the Indonesian mythology behind nagas could be attributed to a few hundred Asian ethnic groups.

What do you think? Has J.K. Rowling given the final answer and effectively silenced the conversation? Let us know how you feel in the comments.
