Social Roundup: Good Deeds and Bad Luck

The alumni of the Harry Potter films demonstrate an exceptional level of social advocacy and support for their fan-base. This week was no exception and saw the likes of Evanna Lynch, James and Oliver Phelps and J.K. Rowling rising to occasion once more. On the flip side, there were a few individuals who despite their enormous cache of karmic points, experienced the unexpected.

This week’s good Samaritans, Evanna Lynch and Robbie Jarvis, took to the streets outside the European Commission offices to protest the EU’s export of live cattle. We imagine this is the muggle equivalent of Luna joining the campaign for House Elves’ rights.

J.K. Rowling also succumbed to the trend of good deeds (not that this is anything out of the ordinary) and finally revealed Sirius Black’s birthday. Scorpios rejoice!

She also decided to phone her good friend, Mr. Galbraith, and organize a scavenger hunt. How far this hunt spans exactly is yet to be seen.

We also learnt one of Jo’s “favored” poems as part of National Poetry Day….

…along with her thrilled reaction to the release of the newly illustrated Potter novels.

Meanwhile James and Oliver Phelps continued to provide their support to the Well Child Awards. Oliver managed to snag a fitting new accessory.

Great time at the #wellchildawards Many thanks to Owen for my friendship bracelet. @Wellchild

Unfortunately, there were a few poor souls who weren’t quite able to cash in on their countless Karma points. Matthew Lewis was made an example of by a certain statistic.

And Warwick David had his beloved caravan nicked despite taking all the usual precautions.

If it was any consolation, he at least unleashed his entire following onto the perpetrator.

That’s a wrap for this week’s roundup. Let us know what your memorable moments from the week were!
